Firts day: Arequipa – Condor cross – San Juan de Chuccho

On this tour, 03:30 am, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa and then start the shared guided tour to the second deepest canyon in the world: The Colca Canyon. Going up to 4200m, where is located the Natural Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca (vicugnas, lamas and alpagas). Arrival to Patapampa (4850m), a natural viewpoint that allows watching the Andean mountains range. At 6:00 am, we will arrive to Chivay town, located over 3600m, breakfast and departure to “Cruz del Condor” viewpoint for watching condors and the canyon. Then arrival to Cabanaconde and lunch. Then we will start the trek, walking around 4 hours until arrive to San Juan de Chuccho, where we will stay for one night in a family run bungalow. Dinner and overnight.

Second day: San Juan de Chuccho – Sangalle

At 07:00 am, breakfast at the local house in San Juan de Chuccho, and at 8:00 am after breakfast, we will start hiking for long ascent to our next village called Tapay (3000m). Along the way, we will visit Cosñirhua and Malata (2600m) its church of mixed racial ancestry, sights of the local landscape, very old terraces, snow-capped summits, varieties of flora and fauna.

At 01:00 pm, descend again to the Colca River and arrival to Sangalle valley – Oasis (2100m) where we`ll find a nice place to spend the night, accommodation in the bamboo bungalows, lunch and, relax at the pretty swimming pools between palm trees, surrounded by the Colca River, dinner and overnight in a family lodge.

Third day: Oasis – Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa

At 04:00 am, we will going up to Cabanaconde during 4 hours (3,280m). This day we walk up 1050m, for the last hard and steep trail of our Tour or Trekking in the Colca Canyon.

Arrival to Cabanaconde and breakfast at local restaurant of the Village. Departure by bus to Chivay, viewing many small towns all around the Colca Valley, located in the high part of this canyon. Visit to the hot springs La Calera.

Buffet Lunch in Chivay, and return to Arequipa, along the way, we will have a little stop, at the Natural Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca to see (Vicunas, Llamas and alpacas). Arrival to Patapampa (4850m), about 6:00 pm arrival to the city of Arequipa and transfer to your hotel.

Firts day: Arequipa – Condor cross – San Juan de Chuccho
03:30 am Pick up from your downtown hotel in Arequipa.
07:30 am Arrival and breakfast in Chivay (Small Village).
08:00 am Continuing with our trip to “Mirador Cruz del Condor”.
10:30 am Arrive to the “Mirador de Cruz del Condor”, (this is the best place to see the amazing flight of the Condors).
11:30 am Continue the trip to the Cabanaconde.
12:00 am Lunch in Cabanaconde “Viewpoint of San Miguel”.
01:00 pm Start with our Trekking on Colca Canyon (4-hours approx.)
05:00 pm Arrival to Small Village of San Juan de Chuccho, where we will have the Lunch.
06:30 pm Dinner and overnight at the traditional family’s house.
Second day: San Juan de Chuccho – Sangalle
07:00 am Breakfast in Small village of San Juan de Chuccho.
08:00 am Start with our Trekking on Colca Canyon (4-hours approx.)
09:30 am Visit the small villages (Malata and Cosñirhua) their authentic church and way of life of the locals, which are proud to preserve their traditions in a very rustic environment.
10:30 am We continue hiking to arrive to next destination called Sangalle/Oasis.
12:00 pm Arrival to Valley Sangalle/Oasis, where we settle in our bungalows to rest.
12:30 pm Enjoy at the swimming pool after trekking, full relaxation. After lunch.
03:30 pm Free time to enjoy to do optional activities.
06:30 pm Dinner and overnight at the traditional bungalows.
Third day: Oasis – Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa
04:00 am We ascend the canyon from the oasis to Cabanaconde.
08:30 am We arrive to Cabanaconde, where we will have breakfast.
10:00 am Departure to Chivay. On the way, we stop at viewpoints known as Antahuilque and Maca.
12:00 pm We arrive to Chivay and head to La Calera hot springs, where we will enjoy the bath for more than one hour.
01:00 pm We have buffet lunch in Chivay (lunch not included).
02:30 pm Departure to Arequipa, making stops in Patapampa, which is the highest point about 4910 meters, then make another stop at Patahuasi where we see llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat.
06:00 pm We arrive to Arequipa and transfer you to your hotel.

Important information:
  • Entrance Fee to the Hot springs La Calera (S/. 15.00 PEN).
  • Buffet Lunch in Chivay (S/. 25.00 PEN).
  • Colca Canyon Tourist Ticket (S/. 70.00 PEN) per person (Obligatory). This is unique entrance to canyon even if you don’t stop at “Mirador Cruz Del Condor”. The entrance is valid to visit the entire canyon but not for hot spring pools or additional service.
